Bass player Basile Rahola, who recently arrived in Belgium, presents his new quartet with three outstanding musicians from the Belgian jazz scene. Pierre Hurty, an eclectic French drummer, Julien Cuvelier, a young talented Belgian saxophonist, and Wajdi Riahi, his long-time partner, a particularly creative Tunisian pianist, who is active on both the Belgian and Tunisian scene and who forms part of his trio (Baz Trio).
Basile has created a completely new repertoire for this project, taking lots of inspiration from emotions he has experienced over the past few years, both at a personal and human level, but also from past encounters and travels. The jazz produced by this quartet pushes dynamics to the extreme, creating an imposing panel of nuances, while never losing sight of the ultimate goal of sincerity and spontaneity in the musical discourse. These four musicians, who have just recorded their first album with the prestigious Fresh Sound New Talent label, which features two distinguished guests (Octavio Hernández and Claudio Jr De Rosa), will perform this promising opus during the concert.
